Default different rear shocks on 2007 street glide

I am in the process of maybe putting on the progressive 440 shocks on a 2007 street glide. I would put on the 11 1/2 shock, which is 1/2 inch shorter than stock.

Has anyone put these shocks on and if so how did it effect the ride if any? My biggest concern, since you have 1/2 inchless travel willit be as comfortable? According to progressive it will be just as comfortable or better.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Not sure about the shocks, but at stock height (minus an inch up front), I am always scraping my floorboards - can't imagine another 1/2 inch lower! That's not even thinking about adding a passenger!

SHOCK 101

The Shorter the shock the less the shock travel = The less CUSH FOR THE TUSH!

Ouch! My butt started hurting just thinking about it. I have the 12½" 440's on my SG and wouldn't want to go any lower. Even though I've found a sweet-spot on the spring preload, it still bottoms out occasionally. If you're going to do any distance riding, i.e. touring, I wouldn't go any lower than 12½", probably 13". If cosmetics are more important than comfort, that's a different story.

Better than what, the stock 12" air shocks? If so, that's not saying much. Mine were totally unacceptable, as I do day-long rides, often for multiple days at a time, and they wore on me fast. I was sceptical about the 12½'s, but have decided to keep them even though they're boarderline acceptable. I've considered going to 13", but that's on hold for now. My last bike had stock 13" with a White Bros. 1" lowering kit, and that setup was excellent. I've thought about going back to that for the SG.

The real reason thatI was thinking of using the progressive 440 is because I am not that tall, and I would assume it will make handling better at stop lights etc.

I have an 07 and it already sits pretty low.

However, the stock seat is very wide in the front so if you have the stock seat you CAN get an inch or more footing by simply having the front of the seat reduced.

There's a sponsor here that specializes in alterations like that I believe - Allen at Mean City Cycles if I'm not mistaken.

FT lowered 1 1/4" Progressive and the rear lowered 2 1/4" using OEM 12" shocks & rear lowering cams... Had to jack-up the rear air a bit high as no to bottom out - so it rides HARDER... Didn't need to lower it as I'm 6'4" but like the looks...
