RE: IDS Bearing failure
i dont know what name id call it by but when you've reinstalled it the associated parts that go up against will hold it in place with no play . its more a sleeve than anything and should have no movement once installed. AGAIN thats my belief. ive seen this kinda movement on axle bearing /hub bearing assemblies ive worked on and all went away once everything was tightened down.

Yes this statement is true, when its all assembled there will be no play.....I am just a little spooked from the talk of bearing failure and wanted to make sure I did not have a grenade on my hands.

RE: IDS Bearing failure
First it is a damn bandaid to a problem HD refuses to correct properly.
Second it is a proprietary unit. This guarantees money for HD as you can only
buy it from them!!!
If you remove it and have subsequent tranny noises ...etc.
Buy a different brand six speed and actually correct the condition.
If it is 08 and under warranty let HD fix it.
