Removing the Street Glide front fender

Removing the Street Glide front fender
Is it possible to remove the front fender without having to remove anything else (ie; front wheel, brake calipers etc..)? I'd like to unbolt it and slip it through the fork tubes and over the tire if posible.
Any handy tips or tricks are welcomed.
Thanks.

RE: Removing the Street Glide front fender
took the fender off my 2003 EG with the wheel on, it was no easy task since HD uses a bar with the corners taped up against the head of the fender bolts to keep the mounting hardware from backing out. One 12 inch extention and a big hammer thru the wheel beat them into submission. I'll locktite them on reinstall. The calipers had to come off to get the bolts that way.
That freaking light on the front fender required removing the batwing to get to the connector way up in the harness.
most aggrivation part was the mixed metric/S.A.E. hardware situation.

I removed the fender from my RK Classic without removing the wheel. Used a long screwdriver to work from the opposite side to fold back the locking tabs on the fender bolts. Still working from the opposite side, used a long extension to remove the fender bolts. Hard part for you will be bending the locking tabs back over the bolts correctly. I did this before I had my service manual.
After reading the service manual, I later had to remove the front wheel for a tire replacement. I finished bending over the locking tabs on the fender bolts at that time. You can remove the fender with the wheel on but it's easier with the wheel off. It's not a major operation to remove the wheel. Follow the directions in the service manual and it's pretty simple.

Thanks guys for the responses. I decided not to take the fender off. I bought some custom brackets over the weekend and they drop the fender about an inch to give it that lowered look. It looks sweet but I don't want go through the hassle of pulling the wheel, fender and having the fender painted yadda yadda yadda.....
In any event, I just bought the brackets this past weekend and I'll probably will sell them. If you know anyone looking for custom weld in brackets to give you that killer chopped look give me a jingle.
Tell them I will hook them up with pictures and one hellva deal on 'em.

RE: Removing the Street Glide front fender
I really hated the front fender on my FLHTCI - got the HD brackets and installed a fat boy front fender - really changed the look and I really like it - don't remember if I had to remove the front wheel or not - but from reading the above post - its easier to remove the wheel...
