Switching to longer Steel Cables

Switching to longer Steel Cables
Hi All
I want to switch my cables to steel braided cables on my 02 RKC for two reasons.
One: I have Chubby 508 handlebars and my throttle cables snag on my gas cap and rub my tank in tight right turns. Two: My clutch is really getting heavy and I wanted to replace the cable with a Barnett “High Efficiency” cable.
Will 3 inch longer cables be enough for the throttle, or should I go longer?
Should I get a longer clutch cable?
Is there any down side to longer cables?
I am thankful for any advice. I’m a pretty good mechanic, butHarleys are new for me. I bought a Harley Manual, and well, hmm. It looks like I have to pull the whole exhaust just to install the new clutch cable, so I plan on installing the harley “reduced effort clutch kit” as well.
Thanks for any and all advice.
