Default Saddlebag Broken Bracket

Sorry if this has been posted in the past[sm=smiley9.gif]I recently bought my RKC used and a freind told me to keep an eye out for the left side saddlebag bracket. He said that they are "known" to crack / break. Has any one else heard this? If so - is there a fix / stronger bracket so it won't break?
I remember other people who I've talked to in the past mentioned this happening to them as well. Seems to me that Harley Davidson shouldresolve the problem from happening in the first place.
