RE: Removing rubber from frnt/rear bumpers
There are two clips that hold it in. Looks not all that good with it out, but I have seen the chrome insert to cover it. Kinda pricy tho! http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US
Here is a couple old pics with no rubber, I tried it once.

RE: Removing rubber from frnt/rear bumpers
Yep took mine off last week to install the chrome inserts in the front and rear. The rear has I think one nut and stud on the inside at the fender tip. The front has a metal strip with three nuts and studs. Just back off the nuts and they pull out pretty easily. Look under the front and rear fender tip and it's pretty self explanatory. Hope this helps.

RE: Removing rubber from frnt/rear bumpers
You'll need to remove the front wheel to do it right, and it does look a lot cleaner without it. On the rear, you can remove it and replace the rubber insert with a chrome insert, or do what I did and remove the rear all together, but you'll need to replace it with a support bracket that fits under the fender to support the saddlebags. Definitely a cleaner look, IMO. If you need, I can send pics.

RE: Removing rubber from frnt/rear bumpers
I think he was asking how the rubber came out. Two studs with flat washer type clips that hold the rubber in on each side. You can remove them but you will ruin the clips getting them off, I did! I then painted the brace that went up to the fender black so it was not easy to see. Still looks better with the whole bumper removed and the support bracket installed. Like this..
