I removed the rubber inserts from the front and back of my Ultra and painted the bracket that holds the rails to the fender flat black. The front can be removed without pulling the wheel if you take your time. See attached pic.

You dont have to remove the front wheel. I took mine out and cut them down so I could install side marker lights and never removed the wheel or the bumper.

take the bells off first and keep them off
