Your right if I see his name on a post I just shouldn't open it.
These forums have a sweet "ignore" feature built in. Check out the image in the bottom left corner of each post.

I haven't felt the need to use it here (yet), but have used similar functionality on other forums in the past when the signal to noise ratio got so far out of whack that it was justified.

Nope, Come from the old school.
Dress in warm layers.
sometimes I think I want them, but the pocketbook says no.
Anyway, other thn fingers I've never really been cold on the bike
if I was dressed properly to begin with.
I figure if snowmobilers can do it in the cold so can I.

No matter where you go and what you do, There is always at least one that wants to bash you.
I figure most of them are just jealous or envious.
Lots are loud talkers, but don't have what it takes in the end, to actually do whatever it is
that is going on at the time and place.
Most of the time the Azzes don't bother me and I ignore them, or explain a point they apparently missed. But sometimes I have to jump in the middle of the fray too.

Yep that day was a fair weather ride. But I've done plenty of rides 100 miles + in zero and below.
Not being bad azz, just getting out and riding cause that's what I do.
For chappy here is a recent pic that comes close to yours.
I've been caught in bad, just didn't get pics at the time.
Guess will have to keep camera handy and upgrade it too.

Hit wrong key too soon wanted to add one looking in front and behind

That cannot be any fun at all! Make sure you're just right in the tire track, watch for ice, careful on those turns, watch for gravel, watch for salt, geez - this is tearing up my bike, what am I doing here, what a head fack, why do this? If you do - then it's a way of life, Old School, not just to show everyone your pics and show everyone you did it. No jealousy, far from it. Point is - you cannot enjoy that except for maybe thebraggin rights which ruins it. Just be complete, great show the pics, talk about the ride and tell us how bad it SUCKED and also how many times you have dropped your bike doing this.

As I explained before about these pics.
The road was totally free and clear of ice snow etc where I left from.
I was heading to the monument (lincoln) highest point on I-80.
I got to mile marker 33 or 34(I was on side highway). I encountered this.
Picture looking forward, I wanted to see if this crap continued on to the top
or confined to this short stretch.
so I slowed down to 5 or 10mph and rode to the crest.
It continued so I turned around and came back.
For me it's all about the ride and the crap that can happen.
where I live I am going to encounter these conditions it's a fact of life.
I can quit and head back and never know if it was clear or I can go look.
If it means slowing to 5 mph and power walking , oh well!.
Riding is not necessarily just breezing down the highway.
No real adventure in that. You got to stop and smell the roses on the way
as they say. Or in this case,at least try to see if you can continue safely.
If you don't try, you will never know, and you may have missed some wonderful riding
just the other side.
Besides this expands your riding envelope and helps increase your skill in handling your bike.
Some of you will never experience what's in the pic 'cause of where you live.
But what you going to do, if suddenly around the blind curve, there is a bunch of loose
sand / gravel in your lane. You're not prepared, you need split second reflexes and reaction
time to manuever safely through it.
If you have never deliberately went somewhere to ride in this and learn how the bike and you are going to respond, you are most likely going down. And at 60mph that is going to hurt.
I'm not stupid, I don't do 60 in the pic above situation.
Bikes don't like mud, snow, ice, and other slick conditions, but if you learn how to keep it
upright by practice at slow speeds, you have a better chance when the unexpected
happens.
As far as salt, really don't use it on the roads here.
I live on a gravel road roughly a mile of it. I do as much as 40 mph on it with no problem,
Because I'm used to it, I know how bike is going to handle on hard pack and the looser stuff.
I know what to look for ahead of me, and when and how to move over or slow down, before
I hit it. This helps on city intersections out here, where gravel / sand accumulates from
time to time, or spills from a dump truck.
Have I gone down, sure several times.
Have I been hurt, so far no, but then I have practiced in a field and on gravel road, going
down at slower speeds. On a dirt bike, learn how to fall, slide and roll if need be. But I have
been bruised up a little.
Got my name when I hit a RR crossing guard couldn't see itbecause of sun blindness and lights
weren't working. Went down about 25 mph on asphalt(01 RKP). Got up, picked up pieces that broke.
Checked bike out, rode it last couple miles to work. Went and did my job at time as field
mechanic for construction company. Climbed up down and around on all kinds of catapillar
equipment the whole day. Did I hurt you bet. But I'm not a quitter and the boss was depending
on me to do my job, keep equipment running.
didn't mean to be so long winded. But some here just don't understand what all riding really
entails. It isn't just about riding the main drag around town, looking cool.
Or the calm uneventful ride to Sturgis to gawk and look around just to claim "Been There".
