Harley Radar Detector Question?

RE: Harley Radar Detector Question?
Because of new radar and laser technology law enforcement has, all any radar detector will do is let you know you have beed caught!
I have the latest V1 detector and got a ticket last week, a radar detector is a waste of money, gives you a false sense of security!

RE: Harley Radar Detector Question?
I am with these guys - All a Radar Detector does is cost ya money and pisses off the LEO who stops ya - And I personally don't think any of that scrambler crap and laser busters work either - Stay within your limits and be smart if you get stopped - Better to be selective when to take your chances and maybe you will get off with just a warning

RE: Harley Radar Detector Question?
I look at the other side. I run a detector in my Explorer, and depending on how you use any tool, it either works or not. If you scream down back roads alone, when you get "popped", its you and the man with him holding the radar.
When running bigger roads, I run faster than a lot of traffic, but usually get a "warning" before I am the next radar target, and it has saved many a ticket. Running interstates, I get plenty of warning if I pay attention to the detector.
Having said that, I bought a new HD detector on EBay for my Street Glide. I have not installed the bracket/power leads yet. And the detector, which seems to have all the latest (X-K-Ka-Laser/Pop), is a little bigger in size than the Bel in my Explorer (X65). But I think it may be because it is waterproof and needs to mount to the specific bracket. I will not know how good it is for a while, but I hope that it works. Even if once, it will pay for itself after the cost of the ticket and possible insurance leap.

They can work if you know how to work them. Go see www.radardetectortest.com for some interesting reading.

RE: Harley Radar Detector Question?
Dont waist your money! Comming from someone that knows, my work bike is equipped with a laser. I have stopped cars that have $600.00 laser/radar detectors. What happends is by the time the laser/radar pics up the signal it has already registered your speed. Although I have been hiding and running laser and pointed it at several high end cars and would not get any readings what so ever, so one day I stopped one of them out of curiousity and they were equipped with laser scramblers (legal in FL) which actually worked. What surprised me was the ridiculous price of well over 1k dollars.

So. Solisimo, I assume you are an LEO and are saying that laser scramblers might be useful (albeit expensive)?
I haven't had a ticket since '97 (and '78 before that), but if I was riding the points edge, it might be a worthwhile investment...
BUT... I got pulled over 9 times in Japan for crossing the double yellow (traffic moves so DAMN slow over there), but never got a ticket. Just be nice and have the MC endorsement and you're ok...
