Default '08 oil pressure at idle and PCIII issue

Hi folks,

Just finished changing to a FuelMoto PCIII, Screamin' Eagle Stage 1 air cleaner and Rush 2.5" pipes on my 08 FLHRC. WOW. Talk about loud.

Anyway, I gave Jamie all my specs and did the install myself, including the O2 eliminators. Pretty easy. Here in Michigan, its about 10F today, but my garage is a balmy 45 degrees with my Reddi heater. Here's my problem...After idling the bike for a minute or two, the engine just turns off. No struggle, no warning, nothing. I restart the bike and everything is fine again, but after another couple minutes, the bike stalls again. Any ideas? I'm thinking about disconnecting the pcIII just to see if it is the culprit. ANyone else have this problem with their 08?

Second item is: About a minute or 2 after startup, my oil pressure light would flicker. I started to freak out, but then went down to the sender and moved the connector back and forth on the threaded post a couple of times. Problem went away. Apparently the sender built up enough oxidation over the winter that it was making a not so good connection. go figure. Not very robust if you ask me.

Thanks for the advice!

Has it ever ran right since adding the PCIII? Did you just install the PCIII and now the problem is present? If you just installed the PCIII and now have the described problem I would pull the PCIII and see if the problem goes away.

You still have to set the high end and low end of the PCIII with the laptop hooked to it while the bike is running. I did it to my 07 when I added my PCIII and remember it was simple to do, but I don't remember how to do it.

First....did you do the zero throttle adjust when you installed the PCIII?

Second....What RPM is showing on the map page when bike is idling?

Interesting...

Didnt know I needed to do that with electronic throttle. Or is that for 07 and previous models? I thought the PCIII was plug and play when I received it from Jamie.

I also did not have this problem before installing the PCIII. Put 700miles on the bike last fall and it idled great, albeit too lean.

It's not a 07 thing, it's a PCIII thing for any bike.

Just guessin' here, but I'd think it would be at least as important on an '08 as any other year. You're tellin' the PCIII where 0% & 100% throttle are. It doesn't care how you get there (cable or wire), it just needs to know where it's at.

hey bagginit after you connect your computer to the bike and start the pclll program
start the bike the program will see the pclll and the map that fuel moto installed in it
then go to the menu (power commander tools ) then throttle position adjust and you will
see how to do the set for zero and 100%
after you set the zero then kill motor and leave the ignition on and the run switch on
adjust throttle to wide open and set the 100% setting (do not try to set when motor is running)
dyno jet i think has this on their website also
I just did this last week and noticed a little better throttle responce.

I just purchased the PC111 from fuelmoto because I thought it was plug and play and would be set up with the info you give them. Does this mean i will need access to a laptop to complete my install properly. And about the o2 sensors do you still use them or do you have to use the sensor eliminators onthe 08 bikes.
thanks

Only 0% is required on the '08's since 100% can't be done unless on a dyno or under load.
