RE: Who switched to synthetic and when?
Is it ever too late to switch to synthetic? I will be getting the bike out of storage one of these days when the weather warms up and getting it seviced and ready for another riding season. I have about 12,000 mi. on her. Up till now I have stayed with regular harley oil. If I go syn. I will probably go Mobile 1 or Amsoil.

That's because here's the reality. Dino will work fine as long as you change the oil when you are supposed too. The difference between Dino and Syn when it comes to "needed" protection and lubrication is very little especially, if you change you oil per the owners manual. But if you plan on keeping the Motorcyle, especially these air cooled monsters then you are better off changing to Syn which will protect your engine as it get hotter whichis when Dino starts to degrade and actually breakdown and run away from vital parts.
Sorry the Engineer in me came out. Bottom line with these air cooled engines why not spend the extra $3 bucks a quart to protect your investment.
