As for the price.... It is actually 545.000 Danish Kroner - that is 106.200 US $ ...and sadly I am NOT kidding
The Price without taxes is around 156.000 ( 30.400 $ ) (The extra doe goes to HD Europe I guess)
But to get a Licenceplate we have to pay VAT (25%) and "registration fee" - and that is the rest up to the 545.000
For that reason we won't get long without a licenseplate here... Police will spot ya - and ask you to write a huge check
The good thing (if there's ANY good thing about this system) is that I expect to get around 77.000 $ for my used 06 Road King Classic with 18.000 miles on the clock - and NO - I am NOT kidding
It's been like this in Denmark since the first oil-crisis in 1973.. Government wanted to make it expensive to buy a car (and Motorcycles) so ever since the prices´have been sky high with 25% VAT + 180% "Registration Fee"
I the meantime it have been tried to lower these taxes many times - but it is allmost at a point of no return... If they really made big changes it would affect EVERYBODY as their current cars and MC's would dropdramatically in market value and as most buy cars and MC's for "financed money" - that would not be all that funny... And in the meantime the Government needs the money - so if they change things they'll just have to get the taxes elsewhere
Did I mention that we pay over 8 $ for a gallon of gas a well
Really shitty system - and for us who loves Harley Davidson it has the side-effect that most can't afford them .. Cheapest Sportster 883 is 30.000$
