ORIGINAL: eglidetrike1

Shouldhave tried to find out how much he paid for it. Dealer probably maid 3g's on it.

I did. He actually bought it for about $200 more than the dealer gave me for it. Apparently he knows someone. Sales guy told me this guy got a better deal than any employee could get.

Let me clarify again. The Sreet Glide they were delivering was not just traded in by me. I traded it in last July for the Road Glide that I just traded in on an 08 SG.

I happened to be at the dealer when they delivered my 02 Ultra, which I had traded in two weeks earlier. I had included all the takeoff parts, and my maintenance spreadsheet which were in the tourpak. The guy told me when he learned I had put Mackie geared cams in it, that cinched the deal. Haven't seen it since. I would've liked to know what the dealer got for it, but I'll bet it sold for around $12,500. I got $10,000 in trade, but I also got the 07 at $1800 under MSRP, plus the extras at no charge. Can't complain about that.

a friend of mine bought my '07 nightster for $440 more than I got for the trade... I had no idea how long it would take me to sell it, or what I would get for it, and I really did not want to wait. When you figure I did not have to pay tax on the trade, it puts it close enough to even that I do not care... I did try to sell it first though, and no one had the cash. I think they were gonna try and wait me out to see if I would come down... soon as I traded, they were at the dealer...lol

Don't kid yourselves thinking they only markup the used bikes a few hundred. Anything you get over wholesale for your trade is coming off the price of the new unit. Look at wholesale price minus their price for the used unit for a closer indication. Of course they sometimes can "steal" a trade and really make a healthy profit.

My old bike is still sitting in the show room since October. I loved it. Only traded it in because my commute increased and I wanted something a little more comfy with a windshield.

Do you think 45,000 miles on an 05 is scaring people away?
