Probably shouldn't post here since I don't have a RoadGlide, but I do have about 20 windshields of various makes and models;
8" Clearview with recurve, Cee Bailey SSC's 9", 11", and 13" (all of which are the equivilent to a 3" shorter conventional shaped shield), 6" Slipstreamer, 7" Cee Bailey Conventional shape, 9" Cee Bailey conventonal shape and many other cheaper flat windshields. I suspect much of the issue is the never ending search for the perfect wind pocket with a "short windshield." Everyone seems to want the shortest they can use and get the most wind protection, (me included.) Well after my 20 or so windshields, heres my conclusion; short windshields of any size act like short windshields. You can get some better protection from a design like the Bailey SSC at 9(6") but it's still not a wind pocket. You WILL get great protection with an 11-13" at my 6'. Better than any other 8" or 10" standard design windshield by leaps and bounds. Now we are talking serious wind pockets. I only state this because the Joes design looks very similar to the SSC. It would make sense to me that an 8" one would protect better than an 8" standard or shorter design, but it ain't gonna give you total wind protection. The 12' from the looks of it just might. They put 12" full size, anything but sexy, pointy windshields on the Ultras and Classics for a reason. They work. It's when we all try to go short and expect some miracle shield to come on the market and do it all. That said, I ride most of the time with my 6" black Slipstreamer or my 11" Cee Bailey..both look cool, guess which one pretty much takes the wind outa play

Nedster, I wasn't calling you a dumbass. I wish you would answer my thread as I am very interested in your response as to how two people about the same size could get entirely different results from the same windshield. Or maybe that was a convenient way to avoid a response?

I went from a stock RG windshield to a Clearview GT large. I ordered the Klockwerks because of the descriptions given on wind protection for a tall person and a passenger made it sound like it would give me better protection and look better. I don't see it. The Clearview does much better than both the stock and the Klockwerks. The Klockwerks stopped the buffeting and the problem I was having with the glasses about blowing off my face with the stock shield because it lowered the place where the wind was hitting me. Now it is hitting me lower. Before it was hitting me right in the eyes. As far as the stereo goes, before I could hear it with the stock shield with a half helmet. As I explained, I can't even hear my exhauat anymore past 40 MPH.

I don't care what windshield anybody buys. I just thought I would give my 2 pennies so before anybody else put out their $186 bucks they would have more to go on than I did which was a report from someone that was selling the windshield.

I have already received a PM from another member that says he agrees with everything I said. So I am not the only one that feels this way.

Again I will state the fact that the Klockwerks shield did stop the buffeting that I had with the stock shield but I think it is because the wind is now hitting me in my chest instead of right at my eyeballs. T.

I have also found an increased wind in the face with the 12" flare. It used to hit me at the top of head so I slouched down. It now hits me full face. I rode 20,000 miles with my stocker and added the mirror extensions that did not affect the wind flow. The short windshield did. It may measure 12" but it also lays down more than the stock. I agree with ultrasweet it looks awesome.

Thanks Texn.. I am going to see what Gil says and I may change my order. I don't want more wind directly in my face.

And no we do not include instructions. They fasten to your fairing just as your stock shield does with your stock bolts. No need for instructions. If you can take your stock windshield off you can put our windshield on.

As consumers, please do educate yourselves. I trust the vast majority of you will be satisfied.

Thanks
Joe

The reason I asked about the instructions was because I was taking off a Clearview windshield to put on the Klockwerks. I needed to know if I needed to reinstall the weatherstrp that I took off when I installed the Clearview windshield? Also I had two large plastic washers that I don't remember where they came from.

Thanks, T.

I'm confused. I don't understand how anyone over 6' tall could expect any different results from a 12" windshield. Maybe if you were 5'6".

Go back and read the first post. There is a quote from the guy I bought it from stating that he is 6'4" and the 8" shield puts the wind over his head. I guess I should have remembered what my daddy told me when I was a little squirt, "son, if it sounds to good to be true it probably is".

Seems like I recall Joe making a post in one of his original threads about the shields where he clearly stated that he made no claims with respect to wind noise and/or impact to audio volume etc.

Seems like he tried to be very clear about not wanting to make any unrealistic claims.

I still like it & am eager to hear Bobby's eval on it. I sure like the picture he posted up at the top of this thread. any feedback yet Gilbo?

I'm still thinking theres a good home for one of on my RG.
