Don't forget that ABS is combined with new Brembos on 08s. More than worth the wait & $$.

Are you waiting because it is your choice or the dealer does not have any in stock? HArley sales have slowed way down, and most dealers are tripping over inventory.

Definitley DO get the ABS. Well worth it for the small incremental cost. I have it on my 2008 Ultra and it works great. If you want your bike earlier, shop around or have you dealer trade with another dealer for one. They are all over the place.

Doesnt ABS effect something about putting a custom wheel like a 21inch on the front. I thought I read somwhere in the threads that custom wheels mess up the calibration of ABS?

I'm all for ya getting or waiting to order a bike with ABS, but I just bought a 08 ultra with out ABS. That's the way I want it! I don't want some mickey-mouse computer controling my brakes if I'm with-in a half an inch of my life. I work in the Collision industry, and am here to say that anything with a computer, air bags, ABS, ect, will fail...give it time. Sure, it's a great system, ABS that is, and Iwould have it on my wifes bike if avalable, just not on mine.

If it fails doesn't it just default to standard brakes like a car?

I know there is an approved 18" in Harley setup for ABs...not sure about 21"

Sure, it will be like standard brakes if the ABS system should fail, But If you are used to jamming on the brakes, and letting the computer do all the thinking for you, you will lose that special touchy-feely sensation you get when your wheel is just about to lock up, I've dun many years of off road racing and moto-X, and know that sensation well. I just think it would be difficult to go from one system to the other, (ABS-nonABS) with out a steep learning curve
