RE: 1K service questions
You know when I bought my bikeI kinda took it that the first was free as well. Then I was told I only had to pay for fluids and filter, 260.00 bucks later is where me and dealerships dont see eye to eye. I have several friends who were under the same impression. Also was told for warrenty issues the dealer had to do the 1000 mile service. Have many friends who did it there selves. If I could do it over again I would have done it my self. Jsimo7 I would just do it yourself, Trust me an untrained monkey could and it will save you some cash.

RE: 1K service questions
I guess I need to start being thankful for the dealer I chose. MY 1K service, with installation of SERT, and standard mapping ( too cold that day dyno as their dyno is outside. $ 157.00. This included going to HD Syn 3. I know, maybe not the best oil in the world, but it meets "their standards".
When spring does arrive, dyno time will be per shop rate of $60/hr.
BTW, they have always, and I repeat always, sold bikes at MSRP, even in the hay days, they have always treated the customer fairly. Now, with that being said, I am fortunate enough to have 4 dealers all within 50 miles, and this is the furthest, but definately has earned the "good dealer" reputation.

RE: 1K service questions
OK Check this out ... I took it in for the free 1K svc. The dealership will upgrade to syn3 for 5.00 per qt. They gave me credit of 4.99 per qt for the dino oil that is included in the free svc. They did the complete 1k service did the syn3 in the engine and primary and bell ray in the trans. No other charges for the service.. I feel good about these guys, they are grown men 40's 50's that ride Harleys themselves. They make you feel like they care. I had them do some things on my 99 Ultra and was happy with them then. I hope when I pick it up thats how they bill me. I will know tonight when I go back to get it.
