RE: Ultra - Adjusting Handle Bars
ORIGINAL: WVULTRA
2. Get rid of the two piece clamp and replace with H-D's new#55917-08 one piece. Works perfect!
3. I also replaced the wimpy handlebar riser bushings with H-D's #56298-03 Polyurethane Bushings. These came highly recommened by a very respected Tech!

RE: Ultra - Adjusting Handle Bars
stro, Jim:
Dealer cost on the stock 2-piece handlebar clamps is $4.94 each. Cost on the new '08 one-piece clamp is $13.60! Don't really think it's a matter of something being wrong with the 2-piece clamps but merely an improvement in the design and clamping ability of the one piece. MoCo must have had a good reason to upgrade the '08s to the new clamp since it did cost quiet a bit more........and IMO a one piece clamp is superior to the older 2-piece in clamping force. Quiet a bit "riding" on the integrity of those bars; especially when having to stop in an extreme maneuver. Ever have the bars work loose when you least expected it?
As for the bushings, simply an improvement to the current configuration:

Polyurethane Handlebar Riser Bushings
These Handlebar Riser Bushings replace the Original Equipment stacked rubber and zinc washer combination with a molded one-piece polyurethane bushing and chrome cover. The long-lasting bushing can reduce handlebar vibration, and the chrome cover adds a bright finishing touch.
