Default V&H Dresser Duals - Question

I notice that Vance and Hines markets a set of header pipes that eliminate the crossover - wouldn't this cause a DECREASE in power? I thought a crossover was a good idea to help scavenging, etc.

You are gonna get several answers here Ted. I've got the Rinehart True Duals instead of the V&H but there is not that much difference. I gained power with mine. You will not gain as much as some other setups but the boost is noticeable. With the duals you really need to use a SERT and dyno to get it right. Without them you will never get your bike to run right.

Ted, If you look at your exhaust right now you have more carbon buildup and soot on the right side than you do the left. Most of the exhaust gasses on a harley exit out the right side. The left side only gets a little. If you put the dresser duals on and get the fuel system mapped or tuned on the dyno as mentioned, you are going to notice the impovement. I am putting a set in my bike next month. The Vance and Hines are what I am going with because I already have the Vance and Hines Oval Slip=Ons. I like their sound and looks. They match the pipes on my truck too.....rolled edge slash cut tips. Stainless steel too....

I hope this helps. There is a dyno guy in Nesbit, MS that travels to all the larger bike shows and will tune your bike on his portable dyno and reduce prices....he charges about 200 at his shop.

Good luck.

I'm thinking about going with the TD Headpipes as I noticed ALOT more the sound only coming from the rightside and it bothers me.

True duals is the way to go. I haven't heard any news on the V&H header pipes. Please if you decide to go with TD use a SERT and get that puppy dyno tuned ASAP. No downloads.

I put the V and H headers on mine last year and love them. I have a power commander and after dyno tuning my horsepower went up 4.1 and the torque went up 7.6.... I thought those were pretty good gains with improved sound and got the HOT crossover pipe away from my leg![8D]
