Start with tour pak rack,
Seat,
Motor (I'm a fan of go big or stay home, I personnally wouldn't even comtemplate a 103 out of an 88 in motor, for the same monies go to 116 or 124)
Exhaust
6 speed Baker (DDR6 not a must)

I gotto go with what most of the others have stated with the drivers backrest.

Because of the backrest the next most important thing was the George Anderson's Tour Pak relocator for my wifes's comfort.

The next would have to be true dual headers.

And of course some mufflers.

The last of the five would be a center stand.

Number 6 which wasn't asked for but is important to me is a MP3 player with a cable to run it into the aux port on the radio.

Seat, backrest, tour pak-rack, mufflers, highway pegs, trailer hitch and matching trailer, engine mods, cams, sert, etc. Enjoy the ride and hope you have a lot of cash or a high limit on the plastic... you'll need it!

Absolutely NOT a backrest. It's the first thing I took off my Ultra. It fixed me in one position - awkward. I couldn't move, it pushed me up and held me there, and it was right at the top edge of the windshield. Without it, I can sit at many positions. I never get tired like I did locked in with that thing.
luggage rack yes.
Pipes yes.
Upgrade all you want, but it doesn't need a thing. I rented an 07 before I bought an 06. I had a 6 speed before and don't miss it a bit; too much shifting and useless unless you're sitting at 65+. Also didn't notice any extra power with the 96.
.02
The wife and I both love it.

Hi jmacdonald5,
...paaaaa---leeeezeeeee...that's just reeeee-diculous...just ride the damn thing....
surely you jest !
Seems to me that aword typed out this way "...paaaaa---leeeezeeeee...",
is kind of saying, "Give me a break". Is this what you ment?

I'm from New Hampshire where there's 5 months of winter and 7 months of poor sledding.

I do make it to mostFeb/March Daytona Bike weeks and some times stay for two weeks.
This still leaves me a long cold, icey and snowy winter.

but out of curiosity
How many miles of riding do you suggest that I dosoi can aviod beingjust reeeee-diculous...?

Between my 3 bikes since 1997 (that's when I started adding miles)I have logged on nearly 200K miles.
The majority of miles are clocked between 04/15 and 10/15 which really makes for a 6 month ridingseason. April and October are bort relly iffy, so closer to 5 months of riding in the Sunapee, NH area.

How many miles do you logwithin your best 6 monthseach year, year after year?

If I seem sarcastic
it's only because I am

Ya know what stricks me funny? It seems to be OK for you and other to add a list of mod's as part of your sig. But the One time I list my mod's to the best of my memory, you find fault. I added a list with humor, while hopeing to show how difficult it will be to settle for a list that only had 5 - 10 best parts or mod's.

It seems that you somehowthink that the list of parts I have installed on my bike kept me from riding, Why?
Or it something else That I'm failing to see?
Why do you refer to my approtch to bikeing a "just reeeee-diculous" ?
My second bike a 1997 Heritage Springerhas a list very similar and both cost more bucks that I had ever planned.
My third bikethat I sold had lots of$$ in it to. Although I have sold the 3rd bike. It was a 1990 Electra Glide Sport, I paid $9,700.00 delivered. Four years later I sold it for $17,000.000.
I have never lost on the sale of any of my bikes. Ever.

Lastly, you shoot me the command "just ride the damn thing.."
Again, I just don't get it. At waht number of parts or mod's would be the accepted number that you would approve?

You may ask why did I go all though this, well, I'll tell, your short post to me, I replied to. But you failed to reply back. Because of the words you wrote and then not replying back. To me that's a kind of a sucker punch, you know what I mean, a verble jab than go back to the safty of the corner. I have waited 10 day for a reply.

So, I thought I'd add to clear the air as well as the point I'm making

just north of you Sunapee, NH
