Default HD Advance Radio w\ XM option

Hi guys, Mynew Ultra comes Saturday. Is anyone running the XM adapter offered by HD. It's my understanding the adapter allows you to control XM navigation with the radio switches. I wasalso told the XM antenna ininstalledinside the fairing. I wonder how this might effect XM reception?? I know I can install an external XMSirius player but I like the idea ox having satellite radio integration.

many of us run the factory XM radio, the antenna is mounted on a metal perch isnde the fairing , it clips in and has 1 screw that holds it in place, works great, have had 2 of these and wonder why anyone aside from the cost factor would use any other unit.... easy to use and integrated....

I've got XM built in along with factory Navigation, the two do not work together as far as I know also the antenna is ok does not work as well as the one on my car it sometimes losses signal going under trees and bridges but that being said I would do it the same way if I had to do it over.

I ran an external XM radio for about 6 months and got tired of taking it off at overnight stops, covering it in the rain, etc. I installed the internal module and love it. It just becomes another option added to the AM FM Weather CD AUX menu once installed. You can preset stations just like with AM/FM. I mounted the antenna in the fairing and have only noticed reception problems in heavily forrested areas where the trees line the roads. I thought about moving the antenna to the dash at some point but it hasn't been a big enough deal with me to pull the fairing shell.

HD retail is $500 plus you have to buy a $50 wire harness. I caught a 20% off deal when I got mine.

What all is included for the 500 is it just the antenna I thought I understood the radio to be already XM ready. Sorry for the confusion I never really researched it.
