Default XM antenna mount

I have a quick question reguarding the mounting of a XM antenna. I hear and see people mounting theirs inside the fairing on Ultras.I also havve my EZ-PASS mounted there without problems sending and receiving signals. Now my question is can I put it in the tour pack mounted on a metal shelf attached to the pocket bolt>>?? I really don;t want to mount it outside where it can be "removed".
thanks to all

I just put mine on top of the radio in the fairing. It should work in the tourpak as well.
