RE: Q for the RK Classic owners.
KB,
Sorry to hear about all of the problems you've been having with your Street Glide. That really sucks. I presently have a Street Glide and I also use to have a Road King Classic (2000). I put 17000 miles on my RKC before I sold it and I absolutely loved that bike. The only reason that I sold it was to finance my business. Here are some observations I have in comparing the two bikes:
The RKC has a much better ride than the SG due to 3" of shock travel vs 2".
The RKC saddlebags hold a LOT more than the SG hard bags.
The RKC has cruise, SG doesn't.
The stock seat sucks on both bikes - get a Mustang or a Sundowner.
The stock handlebars suck on both bikes, but they are even worse on the RKC.
The RKC is one of the most versatile bikes ever made. Everything is quick detachable and the bike can be converted from a full blown touring rig to a boulevard bomber in a couple of minutes with no tools. The SG is not as versatile due to the batwing.
I could go on, but as you can see I really like the RKC. I just wanted to give you some real world comparisons based on experience. So why did I buy the Street Glide? STYLE - period. My wife saw it in the showroom floor and SHE told me to buy it! I married well
Again, sorry to hear about your Street Glide problems - sounds like you definitely had a lemon. Good luck with your Road King Classic - you will absolutely love it.

RE: Q for the RK Classic owners.
Cheyenne,
I guess that it depends on what kind of riding you're talking about. I agree that the stock SG seat is great around town and for short (300 miles or less) rides. But it will cause you serious hurt on 500 mile days. I love touring on my Harleys, and the stock seat had to go immediately. Around town I frequently put it back on - after all it only takes one screw to change it. Nice bike you've got there btw.

Doug,
Thank you so very much for all of the info you gave, it really helped. I finally got a chance to go down today and look at one up close. Yep, that's it. Now I just got to get every thing squared away with the SG, as I have a feeling we are not going to solve the probs this go-round either. I'll let yall know if I get it.

RE: Q for the RK Classic owners.
KB,
Good luck working with the dealer. I also have a RKC and use the Sundowner seat almost exclusively now, whether my wife is with me or not. Its much more comfortable than the stock seat.
Hope you like your Classic as much as I do mine.

RE: Q for the RK Classic owners.
Well I found out today that HD is gonna buy back my bike and I am gonna get me a new RKC. Well I will find out for sure tomarrow but it is looking like they are gonna compensate me for everything.
lil_gmac2, Yea Elk Grove is who has been working on this for me the whole time. They dont have any more RKC's on the floor, nor will they till around April, so the big cheese is gonna find out if he can get a special order type of thing ASAP to take care of me. Mabye on the break in ride (ASSuming it all works out) I will cruz down your way and meet up with ya for a coke (I dont drink on the bike).
