Sanity check:

One of the changes for the '06 Dynas was the addition of an automatic primary chain tensioner.

A dealer is telling me that this update has been made across all the Harley model lines - including the Tourers and Sporties. I'm questioning this because unlike the Dynas, the Tourers still have the chain inspection covers - and I've seen nothing in any literature that indicates that the primary chain tensioner has been updated for the '06 tourers.

Does anyone have a definitive answer?

The update is definitely unique to the Dynas. Your dealer is mistaken. I just adjusted my primary chain on my Street Glide as per the instructions in the '06 Harley service manual.

By the way - great looking SG! This dealer just happens to have a Black Pearl SG still in the crate and for more than a few minutes, I was seriously considering riding it home.

 

In the 2006 wishbook they have the new auto tensioner available for all models and in the description it mentions new on the Dynas only.

 

UGGA is correct but still - Get one, install it or have it installed - It is well worth it! I have an M6 on mine and love it - there is a great thread on the install in the DIY section
