Default Slip-On Install Question

I know this should probably go in the exhaust section, but you guys have not steered me wrong yet.

I have a set of slip-ons (PCIII from Jamie and a AC) thast I got for XMAS. The question I have is do I need to use some type of sealer where the slip-on goes into the head pipe? I have searched this site and there does not seem to be a clear answer. One dealer tells me yes and another says no. What have you guys found?

I did buy new clamps from my dealer because I am not sure how many times the ones on my bike have been off/on (I bought it used).

Thanks,

The Permatex copper silicone seems to be a popular choice among the guys who do add a sealer. I can't see where it will hurt anything to add it.

Put the pipes on and clamp. You shouldn't have any problems...I didn't.

If you got new clamps you will be fine without the sealer. The Harley clamps only seem to be good for one or two applications - after that you can't get enough torque on them to completely seal.
