Default S&S 510G's or Andrews 26G's

Prolly cant go wrong either way but in preperation for switching over to the gear drive I'd like to get some feedback on which cam shaft you guys prefer or have experience with for a stock bike. Other than the obvious Intake/Exhaust/SERT mods. Sound at idle? overall performance??

much obliged.

I just had Andrews 37g cams put in yesterday, had a choice between the S&S 510 or the Andrews. Chose the Andrews. took out for the "amiden run" yesterday and it was everything I hoped it would be. Bunches of low end torgue, better idle, better sound, much easier acceleration. Was money well spent.

Staying with stock heads anda bagger I'd choose the 26 over the 510 because the 26 will give you more on the bottom end where you need it on a heavy bike, lot of folks like the 26's. I had 37's in my bike with stock heads, 95"and a 2:1 supermeg. I ran them almost a year when I decided the mushy bottom end was not for me. I pulled it apart and did it the way I should have in the begining which is a HQ touring build.

If you are going to leave it at 88" and just do the cam swap.................Andrews 21 is a good option.

If you have plans in the future to do a 95" kit, headwork, or bump up the compression...........Woods TW-6G cams.

It really comes down to what your plans are for the total build..............if you're happy at 88" and just want to do the cams for a bit more power...........you can really go with any of the bolt-in cams.
