Se 103 or HQ 103/107
I'm about to buy a 2008 street glide and I will still have the warrenty if I have the 103 stage 2 done at the time of purchase which I do like. But on the other hand I have heard lots of good stuff about HQ builds and I'm thinking about just putting on a set of Bub 7 pipes and a se aircleaner and ride for a year to see if there are any problems than having a HQ kit installedbut I'm wondering how much of a improvement is HQ over the se stuff. I'm sure others have beenthrough this and I'm looking for some input.
Thanks

No question,Keep the warranty intact.I have had 3 100hp/105tq+ motors in twin cams.In my 08 Ultra,I did a stg 1 down load,V&H true duals,Supertrapp 3inch internal disc w18 discs & a V&H Fuel Pack(I don't want to put this one on the dyno after hearing stories about the bottom ends of these strokers)Anyway,my 08 Ultra runs real strong & pulls from down low to 5500.The tq numbers has to be close to 90.Real smooth too!Hope that helps.PM me with your phone # & I can give you more info.Regards,Tom

It's all about the warranty and how important that is to you for the engine. The SE 103 kit isn't bad, but the aftermarket stuff from HQ, GMR, R&R, Dave Mackie, etc will get you a LOT more power. It's all about how much you want to spend. If you want to keep it relatively simple, do the 103 kit, and make SURE your dealer will take care of it under warranty.
Another option is to let the dealer do the 103 kit, ride it for as long as you want, then have those components reworked later to get the same results...head work is MOST important, with a matching cam for your riding style. A good builder will interview you to find out what you're looking for in a build, and match components, compression, etc to get where you want to be.

I just had the dealer do the SE Stage II 103 built with SE 255 cams. I'm pleased with the performance and the warranty retention. I took advantage of their 20% off parts and labor.
I haven't got to break it in completely yet, but hope to finish tomorrow if it really gets to 50 degrees like they say it will.
I HATE WINTER !!!

You'll get more power with any after market kit's. I've got the SE Stage II (103" w/SE 255 cams) on my 08 SG and love it though. It got a Stage II SERT download before I picked it up and it runs as good or actually better than any of the custome 6 hour dyno tunes I have had done. I have not dyno'd this bike and don't have any plans to. I've had two other bikes where I was chasing power with various aftermarket cams, mostly Wood Knight Prowlers, Heads, exhaust systems etc, and it's fun to work that process, but also a bit draining for me. For this bike...the SE kit was perfect for me at this point, after two Hotrods. Most dynos show the Stage II getting a bit over 100ftlb torque and 85-90HP. That ain't bad for stock heads. Of course it ain't cheap either at about $2600 installed. I feel good about the smooth power delivery of this bike, the easy starting, and the very quick nature of it. Heads can always be ported in the event the urge for more power becomes overwhelming
