Default King tourpack backrest?

Has anyone put the chopped tour-pack backrest on a king tour- pack? If so, any pics. The reason I'm asking is because I would like the space the King pack has to offer but just dont like the arm chair look of the Kingbackrest.

This THREAD shows a king pack lid on a chopped tourpak, but I personally haven't seen it the other way around. Wouldn't look too bad I guess.

The regular, armchair backrest attaches with sets of two holes in the center and on each side; a regular King TP from HD will come pre-drilled for the regular backrest, so you will have two sets of holes to fill on each side if you use the chopped TP backrest. They can be filled with plastic plugs, and color-matched using HD touch-up paint. Other than reading about guys considering this, I haven't read of anyone actually doing it or seen pics of the install.

Would enjoy seeing the pics if anyone has them.

Here you go. I did it a few weeks ago. I went for a Polar Bear run today and took a pic. Not the best, but if you need closer ones let me know.

Don't understand the question, do you mean behind the backrest? If that is the case I used washers and nuts. The chopped TP back rest has it's own bolts and isolators that you will have to drill holes for.

Measure carefully. I made a template out of cardboard and checked/rechecked everything.

I ordered the king pack backrest last night for my chopped pack. The wife wants it and I don't feel like buying the king pack right now, so I will go this route.

Let me know if you are interested in the chopped pack small backrest.

On the second pic, there is some white text that is affixed to the back of your TP. It's a small pic, so I can't make out what it is. Thinking about applying a reflective "Harley-Davidson" on the back of mine from Purpleharley.com

You are so right about measuring carefully. The dealer had a chopped TP, so I made a template by placing a sheet of paper on the TP and rubbing the holes with a pencil. Worked like a charm. Just measured the distance of the holes when placing the template on my TP to make sure it was centered.

I really like the clean look of the chopped pad on the King TP. Makes the SG look sleeker.

I don't use a TP backrest, but did do the plastic plug routine to cover the holes in my chopped TP. I used HD touch-up paint, including clear, after smoothing the retainers with fine-grit sandpaper. They are Ford trim-panel retainers that are 1" wide at the head, 5/16" at the shaft, and are about 1½" long.

The lanyard support needs a retainer for good support, so I used regular metal nuts to self-thread itself onto the plastic retainers. They work fine.
