Default newbie question on 95 upgrade

Newbie question here...
I'm looking to upgrade an '02 EGS for low-end torque for quicker takeoffs/passing and occasional 2-up riding. The bike has almost 25K miles, and is therefore ready to be checked for the cam chain tensioners and cam bearings. It currently has the Stage I setup (rejetted carb, slip-ons, AC). The type of riding I do is mostly in-town, with an occasional 100-200 mile trip. Been doing a lot of reading on this site over the past few months, and realize that there are probably several/many combinations of parts that, when installed, will bring me closer to my build goal. A friend has the following used parts that I may be able to purchase, if we can agree on a suitable price.
1. 1550 cyls. SE pn# - 16456-99
2. 1550 pistons SE pn# - 22439-00
3. SE HTCC heads pn#16925-02b (complete)
4. SE257 cams
5. intake manifold (SE?) pn#29635-99
My questions are;
1. Would these parts be a good combination for the type of riding described above?
2. What would be a good price for the above 5 parts?
I apologize if this type of question (for this combination of parts) has been asked before...
Thanks in advance for all replies

Go with an Andrews 26G [GEAR DRIVE] cam using the S.E. pistons if no other future mods are planned. Have your stock heads re-worked, S.E. heads hurt performance. There are a lot of better combo's but this should work well for what you are seeking. I like the kuryakyn kits [ quality stuff that makes power]. Even with the Kuryakyn kits, you don't need their overpriced heads. Reworked stock heads work best.

I say good for what you want. Yes gear drives would also be better. I run them myself. But sticking with your question I wouls say $750-1,000.00 max depending on condition. Look up the parts and see what they cost new weighed against condition and his price.

SE Cylinders #16546-99 $299.95
SE Pistons #22439-00 $279.95
SE Heads#16925-02B $1399.95
SE 257 Cam $269.95
SE Manifold #29635-99 $74.95

The above prices are right from the Harley catalog. You are roughly looking at $2500.00, according to the catalog. The heads will be the most expensive item, so if you can bargain with him around $1000-1800 sounds good.
Your other option for upgrading is to go bigger and spend more money. Good luck.

Later,

JB

With the headwork you're planning, imho, gear drive is a must. I wouldn't buy the SE heads - unless you plan on having them properly ported, otherwise I'd have the stock heads ported. I had the SE heads ported, and the dyno chart shows the additional HP gainsvs. stock headdynos of the same builds post-porting. But it ain't cheap, even with Zanotti's pricing.

For the pop in the throttle you desire I question if you need to touch the heads at all...cylinders, pistons and cams and re jet your carb ( maybe a 2-1 exhaust) and that is all.....definitely go gear drive cams!

While this may be going against the advice of many on this board, I rode a 06 FLHT 95" build with Wiseco flat top pistons in original rebored jugs, NO head work, Andrews 21G cams, the cylinders setup for .030 squish band, with a 2 into 1 exhaust system that I don't know the brand of. This was the best pulling bike at low RPM that I've ridden in quite a while, but seemed to be done pulling hard about 4500 RPM. 1500-1800 RPM rollons were very impressive. This would be a fairly low dollar build, and the performance gain over my stock 88 was like night and day.
