Default speedo sensor

I had the 2000 Road Glide out today rideing. My speed would only read to 60 mph. I got out the manual and found the position of the sender .I took it out and found metal shaving on the magnet .I cleaned it off .Im shure that was the proublem.Im shure the metal is not uncomon for a bike with 42 K on it . Any reinforcements on my thinking thanks.

No question its common. Had the same thing on my 2003 Dyna w/g. only it was at 5000 miles. I was ready to change it out when the guys at H-D dealer by my house told me to try and clean it first. Glad I listened to them. Went another 20,000 miles without a problem.
