Default Oil cooler for Road King standard

Would like to know your opinions of the Harley Premium Oil cooler for Touring models. Part #26082-05 with a suggested retail of $289.00. Anyone installed one? Is it difficult? Does it work? Is it necessary? Also what is the difference between it and the higher cost $340 something that is in catalog. Thanks David

I've got one on my Road King Classic. It was easy to install, you just have to make sure that the hoses are not rubbing against the engine. I live in Arizona, and it's hot, and feel I need one installed - -it makes me feel better. Remeber, every hose you add has a potential to leak. I haven't had any problems because I installed it myself and do my own maintenance. Remember to hold the oil filter adapter in position when you tighten or remove an oil filter or you'll move the position of the adapter and maybe cause a leak.

Try doing a search for oil cooler, this was just asked about a week ago. I feel the fan would do more for the engine then an oil cooler. The oil cooler is ONLY useful when moving where the fan is useful all the time it heats up to the temp its set to turn on at.

I believe fan comment about sitting and blowing air over engine, was thinking along same lines, but doing both fan and oil cooler up front. I do a lot of city riding, cooler oil, better lubrication.
