Its time to replace the rear tire on my 2003 roadking and wanted to know how wide to go?

 

Stock Dunlop D402 here...........I'm on my 3rd one. 1st one got 13500 miles, second one got 12500 miles, hopefully this 3rd one will do as well.

On the pre-05's they are equal to a 130 tire, on the '05-current they are equal to a 140 tire.

Run the lops here to get between 12000 to 15000 on mine no probs.

I thought the 140 came standard on the 04s but could be wrong.

 

140 metz me800 on an '02. much better tire than the stocker as far as performance goes. maybe a little less milage but i'mmore concerned withperformance when it comes to tires...

 

STOCK TIRE IS BEST.. IVE TRIED OTHERS . RIDING HOGS SINCE 1980'S. NONE BETTER THAN DUNLOP 402 . AND STOCK SIZE (ON UR 2003)MT90 16 ON REAR IS THE ONLY SIZE U CAN USE...IF YOU BUY A DUNLOPMU85(SLIGHTLY WIDER TIRE) THE TIRE WILL MAKE CONTACT WITH THE FINAL DRIVE BELT.. AND WEAR THE SIDEWALL AND BELT DOWN!!! BELIEVE ME...IVE BEEN THERE.. DONT USE ANY SIZE EXCEPT THE STOCK SIZE. !

 

Yep, still using stock - haven't thought about using anything else..

 

I run a 140 on mine with 1 1/2 belt no problem . I also run metzeler tires . They will out perform (much sticker) a dunlop anyday .

I too use the original equipment Dunlop,haven't been convinced otherwise.I am on the third one,05RKC.

 

I use a Metz 140/90-16.My new 07 of course came equipped with Dunlops. Ihave used Dunlop's in the past and was surprised to find how lousy they have become.Everything is a compromise of course and they have sacrificed handlingfor the sake of longevity. If you can't tell the difference then your style of riding is such that the Dunlops are fine for you. For performance, go Metz.
