Yes I am.
Fortunatly I am able to ride for a solid 4 months every summer. I leave my home in western Canada (Calgary) and zig-zag across the U.S. ending up at my place in Elmira. Have done every state and province numerous times. (Alaska and the Yukon are the most amazing BTW). This will be my first year for touring on a HD and I am looking forward to it.
**electrarick - look forward to seeing you on the road this summer, the Finger Lakes is a beautifularea to ride in. Look for a bald old man riding the twin to your bike.

If this is your first year touring on a Harley it'll be considerably different than the LT, but I think you should enjoy it.

RE: Are you truly a Tourer..???
Wife and I went out to Sturgis a couple of years ago, sitting at a roadside rest in Iowa In pulls this old geezer (I know I am an old geezer but this guy had to be late 60's or even early 70's) on an FL Shovel pulling a trailer. There was a refrigerator on the trailer as well as a little 3.5hp Briggs and Stratton that was running with a belt to a generator that was suppling the juice to the fridge. Also on the trailer was a dog.. He had started at the west coast, gone to the east coast and was on his way back home somewhere on the west coast. Anyway, he is a tourer...my measily 10k a year in 6 months pales to this guy. I can only hope to still be going tht strong when i get to his age.
Oh, the question was, am I a tourer, I guess so, but still more of a weekend warrior, 5-800 miles in a couple of days except for our annual 2-4k mile trip. When I retire...look out, serious miles then.

RE: Are you truly a Tourer..???
I've been living in the Philippines for the past 12 yrs and get back to the States maybe 2-3 times a yr for 2-4 weeks at a time. Up until last year I rode a chopped hardtail (that thought it was a bagger), bought a new SG in Oct. I come back to ride; first I turn the phone off, take the watch off, get gas and go. Usually turn on the weather channel and let them plan my trip or at least give me direction. I eat when I'm hungry and sleep when I'm tired, only concern is 'where's the gas station'. Been riding since the mid 60's, same philosophy. Usually cover anywhere from 5 to 10,000 miles and every so often, I'm happy to put the bike away cause I've had enough. Once in awhile. One of the few things in life that still gives me "butterflys" in my stomache is walking up to my scoot knowing we're hitting the road. Does this make me a 'Tourer'? Dunno... I just ride

I save all my vacation time at work, holidays etc. in the summer to tour. i usually hit the blue ridge pkwy once a year as well as many overniters in galena, iowa, etc. This year heading back to the pkwy as well as montana, yellow stone and few other hot spots. Sturgis was great last year but I didn't go during the rally mainly because I wanted to "ride" South Dakota. During the rally there is too many bikes its usually way to hot and its stop and go all day.
