A M E N !!!!!!! to that, I was a Motor Cop here in Angleton Texas. Its south of Houston. I rode ALL the time. If it rained I found somones carport to get under untill it stoppped. I have sence been promoted and changed jobs. I still have my Motor and still do escorts, rain or shine cold or hot

First of all Thanks for the appreciation. I just wanted to give you alittle inside.
Most of the 32 active Motor Officers and all of the 6 Supplemental Motor Officers ride year-round. In fact 8 of us got caught in the Flash snow storm that rolled through the area last week, ( I have a great photo of all the bike's covered on the frontends).
Yes we are mostly nuts, but that said, we get paid to ride these Motors. If we don't ride, we can't get to the front of the back up to get the traffic moving, or into the scene of the incident where we need Officers to save lives.
I own a personal bike and many a day get home from work just to jump on my own bike and get back out on the road. And THAT said; I don't get paid to ride below 50 degrees. Something is different about riding around dressed as the Michelin-Man when your not getting paid for it. So far the coldest day was 8 degrees (standing still) I would swear my eyeballs were freezing, it was very hard to blink.
Ride safe, give us a wave (with all fingers, Please) and remember "Smile, I could be behind you".
PS we don't get cars if wewant them, You get issued a Bike and rain gear, heated gear, and a summer uniform too.

I passed by a bunch of you guys last week on Lorton Road, I was going towards Ox Road under the 95 overpass, you all were going opposite direction under the overpass, right when that snow started blowing. I got caught in it too, barely made it home before really started coming down. That didn't happen to be you did it? There was maybe 10 or so moto-cops all together. I've thrown my wave at PW County motocops, but no return. Just don't pull me over at your speed trap on route 1 FF County side of the Occoquan where goes from 35 to 50 in 1/8 mile, and I'll keep waving. Oh yeah, heading down 95 to F-burg today, saw some VA Staties opposite direction, at 30 degrees - made me want to stop at the house and pick my bike up, but was in too big a hurry.

Daily I run into PD bikers going into/out of DC. The DC police ride also. I commute from the Gainesville area into DC daily, usually on a R1200RT. Had to ride the Road King a couple of single digit days last year and it took a jump from a car to get the bike started for the commute home. There is a Fairfax PD biker in my development (Braemar) that is still riding too, I occasionally see him when I sleep in and don't get on the road until 6:00 am.
