Just got an 04 Ultra today. Used to be a winger. So I don`t know much about Harleys.I am sure I will learn a lot from this forum. So , what octane fuel should I use?

All I can tell you is the the 96 engine requires 91 octane .... I've heard others complain of engine pinging/knocking ......... I've been trying to find out if it was the fuel that they'd been using, ie, below 91 octane.

As high as you can get, here in Wyoming 91 is the highest...I'd run 93 or 95 if I could get it.

I have an 05 Classic and use High Test only. Around here usually is 93 octane.

Default RE: Fuel Octane?

Years ago when they took the lead out of gasand the octanes went down. I heard that some guys especially with sportsterswere buying gas at the local airport.
I think they called it red gas and it was for planes but they used it in their scoots. I don't know if airplane gas is still higher octane but it would interesting to find out.
Anybody have any info on that?
