Default Chroming stock wheels

Anyone here know if the stock wheels on an 06 EGC can be chromed? A friend of mine works at a place that does a lot of plating and said he could have both rims polished and chromed for $200-$300. The stock rims aren't all that nice looking compared to most of the after-market stuff out there, but I can't afford the $1000.00 plus figure, and sounded like a great deal. Thanks for any info.

Yea, I checked that out. I mentioned it to my friend, and that's when he brought up the idea of having him do it. I don't think I can beat the price, but I'll have to lug the wheels to my local shop and have the tires and bearings removed, then do the opposite when the chrome is done. No biggie, just a little extra effort on my part.

Typical rates to chemically strip, polish the aluminum, and plate the wheels (triple plated show quality) is about 600-700 a pair. If he's doing it for 2-300 that a feakin steal. I bought the chromed FLHX buds from ARI and they do a great job on the plating, but require cores sent in a certain time frame for you to get the core deposit back. If you fail to meet terms sending the cores back, it costs you another 500.00 like I did. (Glideman<---is a boob head) If you can get a set done without playing the core game your way further ahead. I bought rotors and stuff to match mine and spent alot more than you to get a set. You'll be happy with them and best of all, you can retain your tires.

Glideman, thanks for the info. I"d like to go with nicer wheels, but at that price I can afford to do other mods.
