Seeking info re my stage I/SERT install...
Tired of Winter...Finally decided ona stage 1 combo for my '07 FLHRC: SE street performance slip ons, K&N air, and SERT. I'd liketo do all the work myself, but frankly, I don't know much about the SERT. Bottom line question:can a handy guy do the SERT install himself?
Pipes and air are basic install, but I don't want to get 'stuck' by not being able to accomplish the SERT install and tune properly to finish it off.
Looking for some advice... what do you think? Need a plan so I know what to order/plan for the dealer to install (BTW, I'm not too thrilled with my dealer to date)
Thanks in advance!...

I did what you're looking at doing (K&N A/C, pipes,& SERT), but I had the dealer do it because they could run it through the dyno. There are too many variables to tweek it by hand in my opinion. My '08 Ultra now runs cooler and with lots of snap. I know some folks that wanted to save the $150 and have been fooling around trying to get their tune right for a long time. I'd rather ride.
Good luck.

Put your own pipes and air cleaner on and have the dealer do the SERT. You need dyno time to make it work properly and if you have a low milage bike most dealers will do the basic down load for free so you can get the miles on the bikeyou need before dyno tuning.

Raw SERT from a delaer is around $399 now, or maybe $450 depending on part#. you can go on ebay and get the SERT for around $250-$280 nib. Sert is not that diffcult once you use the program a little. I thought I was going to have trouble using the SERT software, was I wrong. I will be doing the dialing in by myself w/o dyno time. I also will be using a DTT twinscan II+ to help me with AFR and SERt with timing aspects. Keep everyone posted when the snow melts.
BTW it sucks today had to get 2-3inches on snow. Bad just bad

I installed the pipes and intake myself. I then gave the V&H fuelPack a try....just waisting time....it ended up on ebay at a small loss. I then took it to the dealer and had a SERT installed and had it dyno tuned. Super happy....a c-hair under 100/100 out of a 03 SE 95" engine w/203 cams.....and about 10* cooler at the dip stick gauge to boot!
Unless you got a dyno and a lot of time to play.....let someone with the experience and the maps do it for you......then ride the hell out of it!

All good advice.... thanks! Here's what I've decided:
Going to install the pipes myself.
Going to buy the A/C and SERT...
then have the dealer installand tune.
Then I'm going riding!
