New '08 Road King FLHR!
I just ordered my new '08 and couldn't be more excited!! I was wondering if anyone had opinions or thoughts on the new '08 vs the '07 model? What are the first performance mods that I should be considering?? I had a 1800 Honda VTX that Iswapped out exhaust, intake, and PCiii, had dynoed, etc and got quite a bit more power out her. But with this being my first Harley, there is a new learning curve. I'm reading everything I can get my hands on, but would welcome your experience and expertise!!

Congrats, Mike! You're gonna love it! Just picked up mine last week.
The 08 has a number of improvements over the 07, including Brembo brakes (with optional ABS), IDS, and a few other things. My plan is to get mine through the 1000 mile service first, then add a SERT, AC, and Rinehart slip-ons.

Congratulations on your new bike, and welcome to the forum!
You are gonna love your Road King. It's a great choice, and my personal favorite. I like the look of the Classic, but you can't go wrong with the FLHR either.
I would go ahead an include with your purchase the following items so they will be covered in your warranty:
1. High flow air cleaner-I'd choose the SE version.
2. Slip ons vs true duals. Many opinions and choices here. I suggest you do a forum search.
3. SERT ( SE Race Tuner )- Have your dealership do a "safe map" download for 1 & 2, and then
Dyno your new bike at your 1000 mile service. PC III is an option, but the SERT isa better
choice.
Negotiate the download when you purchase your bike. Since I went ahead and bought my SERT with my bike, the dealership didn't charge me a thing to download a map to get me going out the door.
The reality is you are going to do all of the above sooner or later. You might as well get these items covered.

Well I bought my first 08 RKClassic and I added: (lots of chrome) just good therapy. SE Mufflers (slip ons) and this week I'm adding the SERT, SE Air Filter, Chrome Front End, SE Handlebars, HD Floating Rotors, and changing the brake and clutch levers to chrome and adding a SE hydraulic clutch. I've also changed to the Sundowner seat and some other items... It's great fun. Congrats! Enjoy! I sold a brand new Vulcan Classic with HardKrome Pipes and Electronics to get this baby... What a difference. I looked at the Honda, but the Harley just handles so well... great balance and it is-- a Harley.
