Michigan to Yellowstone and back how long?

RE: Michigan to Yellowstone and back how long?
If you do a search on here for Montana and Wyoming ride routes, I had put together a bunch of possible routes for the areas you are asking about. It lists highway numbers and mileages. That might answer some questions for you. If you have questions about those routes, or anything else, holler and I will help you out if I can.

Take as much time as you can. We always go to Sturgis then head west for 2 or 3 more weeks. The problem with this is, everyone else have the same ideas and motels and campgrounds get pretty full and you might have to shop around to find one in an area you want to stay. Yellowstone is pretty crowded in the summer months. A lot of road construction inside the park too, some not too biker friendly! Have fun and take lots of pictures.

03Ultra makes a good point you should consider. The road construction in the park can be pretty hairy. When I was there in '06, the east entrance was at least a few miles (may have been more) of dirt and gravel. Some of it was pretty soft. You have to be careful, especially while riding a fully loaded bagger.

I have to agree with the postings above. Two weeks should be plenty. Make sure you take the trip on Beartooth Pass. Here is a picture from one of the overlooks. Also, consider a stop in Deadwood. Fun town with plenty to see regarding old west lore.

I'd figure on four-five days riding each way, which leaves six-four days to see the sites. I think that is enough to see Grand Tetons NP as well. On this schedule there will be no days off. Consider renting a cabin in West Yellowstone at Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park, (406)646-4466 as a base camp for Yellowstone.
It will blow your mind,

It is also the same miles back, soI would figure 7 days of the trip going and getting home, the rest of the time is how much you want to spend. that leaves 7 to 14 days in the park area depending on 2 or 3 weeks that you endup deciding to take.

Rode out in Aug.2006 from Ohio. Took 4 days because of the 100 plus temps. There is a lot to see.2 weeks was enough time to stop at several sights along the way.Took the 4 lane out and 2 lane back thru Nebraska and Iowa. Best 2 week ride I ever took..
