RE: Patriot Guard
I served in the navy 24+ years ago, Think I will in the Patriot Guard when I finally get my first HD (coming soon)
I watched on the news last night that some of the PG's meet a service member at the Oakland
airport and rode (followed and lead) him home out to livermore. Have to thank all vets.
My little bro and sis just got home last year from Iraq from their service.

RE: Patriot Guard
Well I'm already a member of the Blue Knights and The Brazoria Co. Calvary. We do about the same things. I guess the Patriot Guard stood out so much because the Police Officer that I went to the funeral the other day was a Blue Knight President and so we were all involved in the Funeral. Not to take anything away from the Patriot Guard, yall do a fantastic service whether you want the recognition or not. Sometimes it just takes someone to say something nice for it to build pride in volunteer stuff like the Patriot Guard and the Blue Knights etc... to m,ake people want to be involved in such groups.

No organization is perfect.
But this one offers a way to oppose a 'church' filled with hatred and unbelievable, appalling hubris and disrespect.
To turn a funeral for someone's child into an opportunity to spread any message at all is just wrong.
To deliberately heap additional suffering and indignity on a family who has just lost a child is unacceptable.
I ride with the Patriot Guardbecause my youngest is at Fort Bragg with the Special Forces. I'm there for other guys who have lost their daughters and sons. Maybe some of you other guys have kids serving in the military, or know someone who does.
I'm there because, as English philosopher Edmund Burke said, ‘The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.’
Think I'm overstating the case? Check out these links and judge for yourself:

There is plenty more available, if you care to look, but you get the idea.
I consider it a moral imperative to act against Fred Phelps, his daughter, and his "church".
The downside is that you wind up burying a lot of kids. If you are a parent each one makes you think of your own.
But you do it because its for your kids and other guy's kids, and its something that needs to be done to let people in this country know that there are still some guys in this country who are aware of the sacrifice their kid made, and who are grateful.
Thats why you do it.
