Metal vs Rubber Valve Stem

I had a rubber valve stem leaking since my last tire change, so I pulled the tire and took it to the dealer to get it fixed. The tech put in a metal valve stem, which I assume is better because it will not flex and start cutting or tearing. Any thoughts on these?
The dealer did the repair for free and said they had some problems with the valve stems on their chrome exchange wheels.

If its a threaded valve stem shaft with a retaining nut,its probably the best you can get for sealing the valve stem hole in the rim, plus it doesn't move once tightened.
