If you aregetting a 2008 bike without ABS I would go with the 2007 model. I purchased an 08 because of ABS.
Also, forget about HD financing, try Capital One, I got 10.25% for a new bike. HD started at 15.5% with 10% down or was it 20%? Capital Onemails you a blank check within five days and you write it to the dealer. They also finance used bikes.

RE: 07 vs 08
I have a high credit score and HD offered me 14.25 I about died so I called up USAA and they gave me 7.0%. So financing isnt the issue for me. Trying to figure out my best bet for the money is now the issue. I am working now on the best deal possible for the bike. Sadly though I think the best is going to be for me to sell private party then buy because Ill get more money that way for my bike then by a trade in. But with the economy the way it is, how hard will it be to sell my bike this way is my thought.

I would get the 08 the IDS Saves your tranny if you look at what it does. The Jap sport bikes have been using this for years Think about 160hp on a hayabusa they dont dave tranny problems even after 100,000 miles. I have owned many sport bikes and never had a tranny failure (many bent shift forks though). Also the cable free throttle is a race throw back as well. Better throttle respose= better fuel mileage =less bar vibration.The Brembo Brakes have been a world class Race worthy addition for years. I believe there is nothing more important on my bikes than the brakes. I have been waiting on Harley to update before I bought one and this was the year for me.
Ok onemore thing: To my best understanding Harley Police bikes have been using the brembo brakes for a minute. So this is not a brand new addition to the harley, just to the public.

Hey gang,
I am debating on selling my softail and getting a streetglide (more like its going to happen for sure but the question is in a week or 2 months, etc.) The dealer made me an interesting offer. I was looking at a brand new SG and one of the guys there said they had an 07 that was one of their rental/loaner bikes they would sell me for several thousand less. The bike had 14k miles on it but with the money saved I could throw a 103 kit on it and still have money left over to get a custom paint job on it for roughly the same price as a new 08.
So here is my questions. I remember when the 07s came out a lot of people were complaining about the tranny whine of the new 6 speed. I rode an 08 loaner for a couple hundred miles and never noticed it. Are the 08 trannies the same as the 07s and I just didnt hear it or did they do something to fix this whine?
If I bought a bike with 14k miles on it but threw a 103 kit in it, essentially the motor would basically be like new wouldnt it? And how bad you think that bike got beat up being a loaner/rental? Input please, also are there any other differences between the 07s and 08s I should know about that the dealer isnt telling me?
Thanks all.

Howdy;
i opt to buy the 07 for several reasons,
1-i am old school and rather have a cable between me and the gas not a servo.(i work with servo technology and believe me they are very dependable however when they break they just take a massive dump)
2-i use the "stick it to the men financing" last year.4.9 apr FIX for 4years thru eagle finance.
3-a lot of discrepancies in california with the exhaust(08's has catalityc converter's)wich means possible mandatory smog check in the future vs non catalityc model's.
all in all the 08's are a sweet bike and again we buy what we whant.
