Road Glide-need advice

RE: Road Glide-need advice
Don't have the dealer do it.
I made the mistake of using the HD lowering system front and back. It only lowers the bike an inch.
If you want to slam the bike down to thepavement use the Progressive 440's 11.5"shocks in the back and matching springs in the front.
Then go with the heritage bars. They come stock on police bikes. I didn't loose any leverage as described above. I mounted them a little lower then most do. I found them way more comfortable then the stock bars.
Find a better seat. I use a Lepera. It's low and slim to the frame.

RE: Road Glide-need advice
I am almost 5'5 and I can manage my RG fine with nothing lowered. Duckwalking it backwards requires some patience and I really pick my parking spots. But I don't want to sacrafice the ride of the RG if I don't have too!
I do think I want to get the seat shaved first then look at a buying a better one like a Danny Gray, Mustang or something that'll help me with height and comfort. It's hard to find dealers that have seats to try!
I did just buy some Frye 12R's last week, but haven't ridden with them yet, still using my Blundstone 501's. I put the kickstand attachment on, as that was the part that was screwing me up the most...trying to retract the kickstand! Other than that, it's a great ride and I'm very glad I made the leap!!! Hope this helps! Scott

RE: Road Glide-need advice
you got great advice here already. I would just add that Corbin makes a great seat and they will do what they call a "nose job" on the front of the seat. That brings legs closer to bike for enhanced stability an helps plant feet. I also went with the Progressive 440's at 12". Bike is stanfard at 13", while Street Glide and RK Custom are both stanadrd at 12". Good luck.

RE: Road Glide-need advice
Thanks all for the great advice! I went and closed the deal on an 08 RG today and will pick it up tomorrow. I had the dealer install the HD rear shocks along with stage 1 SE breather, V&H fuel pack and Caliber true duals for exhaust. Will post pics when all is done. Thanks again, looking forward to be a bagger!

RE: Road Glide-need advice
I'm 5' 7" and a fraction and have no problems with my '07 RG. I'll tell you from experience though, add the $30 peg that drills into the jiffy stand. The stock lever is so far under the primary that you'll definitely have problems. The seat heights on my '96 EGC and the "scissors seat" on my '77 were a lot taller. Welcome to the Roadie converts!
