Until someone can discount this method, here is what I hold as the recommended way: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

I'm more on the glide program above... I let it warm up and ride it a bit (10 min easy)then total cool down. You will feel it get hot and it will be tight. Then I will do some easy roll on and offs for 10 minutes after warm up.cool down. Then medium roll on and offs. Cool down. Then harder. Cool down. Then harder. Cool down. Then I change the oil. I've done more than one this way and then put many trouble free, strong running miles on this way. They never have burned any oil between changes either. Like someone else said it's your 20 grand though. The first one I did this way I admit I was nervous and timid... Now I look forward to it.

thank you to all who responded. I tend to lean towards the moco break-in instructions....Once again great information on this forum. Can't tell you how many people I suggest join this group.

Listen.
Bearings need nothing but lubrication. If you have oil and the pump is working, they will get that.
What is truly important is Ring Seating.
This occurs during the 1st miles.
Your dealer has a dyno and doesnt use it to break in bikes?
That tells me that your dealer is running about 20 years in the past as far as technological thinking goes.
If you got to my dealer and buy a new bike, they will ask you if yiou are planning on doing any mods.
If you say that you are, they will sell them to you at 20% discount at time of sale, install them, and the break your bike in on the dyno, change the oil and roll it out the door.
When they roll it out to you, you are told to ride it like you want to, just dont lug it.
When they build your bike at the factory, they redline the engine to test it.
