Default 06 ultra bars wiring

How many wires come from each side of the bars on an 06 ultra? My manual is at home and I am going to pick up some wire to do the internal wiring thing as I am starting on my 13s tonight. Also does anyone know what type of connectors are on the ends of the wires, I thought about ordering new pins to just splice the wires once and put new pins on the end.[/align]

There are twelve wires in each; they use a Deutsch socket (female) end. Unless you have a decent crimping tool, it is probably easier to splice the extra wire into the harnesses without disturbing the existing sockets. Also, there are a couple of different sizes for the Deutsch connectors used on the HD depending on the connector. I'll see if I can get the PN for the Deutsch connector you need and post it later.

The Service Manual has a good description on how to dissassemble the 12-place Deutsch connector; just be careful that the locking tabs used to release and remove the wires from the conector aren't pulled/pried back too far or they will break off; it only takes a little movement to unlock the wire from thelocking tabto remove the wire.

If you decide to replace the sockets, the the PN is 72191-94, and you will need 24 in total, but purchase two or three extra just in case you mess up the crimping; they're only fifty cents so it's cheap job interruption insurance IMO.
