Here in So Cal (the San Diego area at least) the crotch rockets are the huge majority of bikes stolen. Relatively few cruisers are stolen in comparison.

Just be a bit choosey where you park it when you have a choice, lock it and use the alarm is about it. A quick prayer wont hurt either...

Those internet videos with the Bic pens have been around for quite a while. They had an article in Thunder Press about it as well. I for one am glad they did as I had one of the Kryptonite "New York" locks as well as a couple of disk locks with barrel keys. Thought I wasfairly well protected.Kryptonite as well as others have changed to regular keys. Now everything I have has regular keys -but the bike. Supposedly HD ignitions could be unlocked the same way but I never wanted to try on my bike. It was also reported thieves were using channel locksto turn a lockedignition.

When I first saw that about the locks and bic pens, I tried on the Harley. The Bic pen does not fit in the Harley lock--different diameter and thinner slot.

Someone may rather than steal your bike.....
just steal your $700 Mustang seat........and sell them on E-Bay all day long.

Don't forget that all the handy removeable stuff is pretty easy to dissappear too if someone thinks they can get enough for the next fix.

Sure... a thief may take my bike, and it is fully insurered. But I will take pride in the hunt for the dirtbags for the rest of my life. With that said... I don't worry about it.
