Default 6'6" Man needs new Handlebars

Alrighty, it is time to begin the looking for new handlebars. I see all the sites you guys recommend. Wild1s... etc...

At 6'6" with a long torsoe, I need something a little taller than what comes with the average sized road king classic below.

The chart says that my RKC comes with 7" rise, 11" pullback, and 32" wide handlebars. When I close my eyes and sit on the bike... I think I end up about 2" higher and 3" more pullback and 2" wider. Thus, 9" to 10" rise, 14" pullback, and 34" wide bars. So, taking Wild1s first, do you think I should try the 575's, the 517's, or the 515's? did many ofyou have to try multiplekinds of handlebars before you found what you wanted?

Tall guys, please weigh in here.

Thanks.

Are you kiddin?? I could start a handlebar shop with all the bars I've been thru and are still in my garage!!

I think the 14" width of the 575's would look odd on a King... I tried a bar (LA Choppers)with that width and didn't care for how it looked...

I also had a set of 517's which I never installed...too much pullback for me.. I'm 6'1" BTW...

I would go with the 515's... My bars are 10's and I love 'em... They have 10" pullback too... They are LA Choppers Hefty's...

You are not alone in the search for the perfecr bar!! (Handlebar that is!!)

Thanks for the frank reply... I was concerned about that.... ARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH.

Alright, well I can image the comment about the 575s, thanks. Did the 517s get high enough for you? It was just the pull back??? And you like the 10" apes, hun. good to know. Thanks again. If I was interested in the 517s what kind of price might you be willing to part with them for....? PM me if interested.

I m 6-5 and had 20" apes on my 03 raod king and I F***** LOVED IT.

Wife hated it with a passion, would not even get on the thing. I guess maybe I should have kept em.....LOL

I really dont have any issues with the stock ultra bars though.

Brent,
I sold the 517's.. Sorry, I did like the rise, the pullback just killed my wrists...

BigJess...
Thanks...I'm workin my way back up to the 16's... They are still in the garage all prewired and red to go!! I added Cruise this summer and went with the lower bars...
I dig the pinstriping too.. I need to post some pics...

16" x 1.25" or higher on that King would look great. With your height, you could go 16" and still probably be level or slightly under your shoulder. That means no dead hands on long rides. But, above looks better. Oh well, it's a slight trade off for style. I pretty much love the looks of all apes (except that guy on the yellow bike. I don't even think his assis touching the seat!)
