How do you think an SG would ride if you...

RE: How do you think an SG would ride if you...
Food for thought
I had and have both...

I personally like the idea of having the extra 1" of travel the 13" offer over the 12"

I was wondering the same thing.....never seen a pipe setup like that.
Details please!!

BTW...what pipe is that and how do you like it?

It's a Klockwerks Doubleback header system with plain old Vance and Hines Ovals mufflers.
I likeit very much. I got them back in May. They are true duals.
If you do a search you'll see quite a few people have them now. I haven't heard any real complaints other than I think PhilM who said they didn't perform nearly as well as his D&D FatCat whichis obvious as it's a 2-1 system. However if you like true duals, I recommend them....
Thanks for the kind comments...

It seems like a long way around the block to me. The shocks in there stock location work much better than those lowering kits.
I did the exact opposite of what you are proposing. I had the stock length shocks with the lowering kit, the problem this causes is it changes the working angle of the shocks enough that no matter how much air they have in them the bike bottoms out with only 1 person on it (and I only weigh 200lbs).
I took the lowering kit off and put on a set of short Progressive shocks and the problem was gone just like that.
SoI would advise against it.

Are you unhappy with the Street Glide's ride? That's what I want....just askin'

If you took the short shocks off of an SG and replaced them with the standard shock from say an Ultra THEN lowered the bike like 1-2" with a kit?
I wonder if it would make any difference? Anyonetry this?

I would speculate that The MoCo put numerous hours into R&D on the street glide with input from mechanics and engineers alike. I dont suggest changing ride height on any motorcycle if you expect the geometry to remain the same. If you change the height, you are alsochanging the wind flow under the bike and around the bike. It does change the bike. Lowering does change clearance and can cause you to low-side much easier. If you use it for long trips it could become a pain in the AXX.

I sacrificed a little cosmetics for a much better ride. Changed my 12" air shocks to 13" Progressive 440's.
Actually you can hardly tell the difference when you look at the bike, no one has ever made a comment but the bike is slightly harder to lay over in the turns with the additional inch added to the center of gravity.
Overall it was a good trade off. The ride is so smoooth, no more bottoming out and no back jarring bumps.
