Default Road King question?

OK! My friends and I havestarted aconversation over the weekend with no result! We were discussing the differences between the Heritage Softail Classic (FLSTC) and the Road King Classic (FLHRC)! Weknow and understand the chassis/frame, engine/transmissiondifferences and a few of us have been with H-D for quite a few years now!So here is the question! If you were to purchase one of these, and only one, what would really be the better all around H-D? Lets consider that most of us, but not all (at lease the people I know that ride) just ridelocally throughout the week back and forth to workand take the occasional long road trip on the weekend! What are the advantages to either, or disadvantages?

To me the touring frame has a superior ride and I like the rubber mounted engine. The bags are bigger and don't sag. I would definately get a King!

I was stuck making a decision between the two and went with the RKC. For me is was all about feel! Everyone is different!

I like the rubber mounted engine and less viberation at above 60MPH or so. And the bigger bike just feels better to me.

RK has a heavier frame - Rubber mounted Engine & tour style shocks (softer ride) - That's the reason it's in the TOURING CLASS..

The handling characteristics were a big part of my switch from a Heritage to a
touring frame.

I can't answer technically, but I always thought I would get a Heritage until I rode a Road King. After I got my King I swapped with a buddy who has a Heritage for a short ride and really missed my King.It just has a different ride. I do know the King has adjustable air suspension that the softail doesn't have. My King has the hard bag, which are bigger than the soft on either a RKC or Heritage which I like because my laptop fits in them. Just my $0.02

RKC also has cruise, quick detach bags that can be converted to locking with push button openers, larger tank and auxilary power connector.

I suggest if you can take a ride on both and see what you like. That's what I did and you can see my choice.

The Road King Classic just feels like a bigger and more comfortable bike to me.I realize thats probably a subjective statement but its the best oneI can give. The ride and overall 'feel' of the touring framewon me over.
