The oil cooler here in SW Fla definitely does make a difference. My pipes are also ceramic coated, which cuts down on heat too. Dont ask where, the guy who owned it before me had it done.

Bought my 07 Ultra in December of 06. Even through the winter months I could not stand the heat so I did some research on how to cool it down. The only thing I've done to my otherwise stock Ultra is install a Power Commander III and it now generates much less engine temps and runs way better to boot. Cost: about $350.00 . . . well worth the money.

Have a 07 Ultra in San Diego. Oil cooler did not help with the heat but did drop overall temp on oil at least20 degrees. Frigging jug temps were running in the 300-350 degree rangeafter a freeway ride at speed, this was measured with infared temp gauge. In stop and go traffic it was just unbareable. Installed Bub 7's, K&N and T-Max, temps have dropped to 240-290 range. Still warm butI can live with it. Performance and soundare aboultely awesome.Did the cheap thing and bought the parts online, installed myself. Wasn't diffcult.K&N kit from FOX performance$112, T-Max from Eastern for about $725, BUB 7'S Ebay $625. These were delivered without tax. In parts and labor proably saved about a grand.

Thanks to all who replied, That sounds just about right dollar wise for what I had planned. When I picked up the bike I asked a service tech at the dealership about getting an oil cooler and he didn't recommend it for Michigan said it made it harder to get the oil out on changes. But as hot as it runs I'm inclined to go with one. Any recommendations on what cooler to use?
I use the 10-row low mount Jagg. Mounts in the same location as the H-D cooler and offers 40% more cooling for the same money. You can read up on them at Jaggs website & forum member Shooter64 sells them for the best price you'll find.
Don't worry about getting all the oil out of it at oil change time- only a few oz remain in the cooler so it hardly matters.

Thanks to all that replied , will look into the cooler. I forgot to mention I'm running Amsoil , I'm a believer in synthetic oils. I was a millwright in the chemical plant I work in, I've seen results with syn oils and will never go back!
