Ok guys, I need your help here. I'm in the market to buy a new mc lift and I noticed under my bike, an '08 Ultra Classic that there is a cross member underneath the frame that I don't remember seeing on my '03. I am concerned about being able to use a MC lift and not having interference from the cross member. Also as far as lift are concerned, I was thinking about going with the Pit Bull, but I am open to suggestions. If you have an '08 model and are using a lift, please weigh in here.

 

I have an 08, I use the Sears yellow aluminum lift with no problems. Used it on my 04, use it on my 08.

 

I have an 08 EGCand I use the infamous Sears red jack with no problems. Itstight so I put my jiffy stand down on a the 2" side of a 2X4 and it glides right under.

just lifted my 08 road glide with my pitbull last week. no issues

 

I have the cross member on my '07 and have no issues with the Sears yellow lift.

 

I also have the yellow Craftsman and it works great. I was told that the crossmember was where you shold place the rear lifting pad of the jack but mine is too wide to fit in the channel and it doesn't seem to be the proper balance point anyway.

 

If you get a wheeldock center stand this member is where it mounts.

 

That's exactly what I was concerned about. Either the cross-member channel being too narrow or the lift pad being too wide...whichever way you want to look at it. So I assume that you simply movedyour lifting point (rear pad) forward slightly so it's just in front of the channel, is that correct?

 

 

Yep, I put it just in front of the channel. It seems to be the right balance point.
